Netflix’s Castlevania universe keeps expanding. After the original series ran for four successful seasons to wide critical acclaim, sequel Nocturne wasted no time meeting the high bar set by its predecessor.
The show premiered in 2023 to great success and was renewed for a second season that arrived on the platform on January 16, 2025.
Now, fans are dying to hear more about the future of the series. While there are plenty of other stories the creators could tell, there’s no news on whether the show will return for season 3.
That said, the franchise’s popularity is undeniable. We’re hopeful that new episodes will get the green light.
Castlevania: Nocturne: Season 3 Release Date
Netflix hasn’t renewed the series just yet, so there is no official release date for Castlevania: Nocturne Season 3.
Given that the animation process can be lengthy, we estimate the new episodes might hit streaming in late 2026 at the earliest. In the meantime, you have plenty of time to give both the original and the sequel another stream.

What Will Happen in Castlevania: Nocturne: Season 3?
While the original Castlevania is set in the 1400s, the sequel takes place during the French Revolution and revolves around Richter Belmont, a descendant of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades. Aided by his adoptive sister, he attempts to stop a powerful Vampire Messiah from rising.
Season 2 of the series ended pretty neatly with the defeat of Erzsebet Báthory. However, with a mysterious entity watching Maria from afar and Richter letting Olrox go, there are still enough interesting developments the creators can concoct to keep viewers coming back for more.
One of the show’s directors told Collider he has ideas for season 3, but it’s not entirely up to him. “The Netflix gods and the audience need to define that for us and help us figure out where we’re going next,” he said.
Is Castlevania: Nocturne Based on a Book?
The Castlevania shows aren’t based on books. They’re inspired by a Japanese video game series. Rather than a straightforward adaptation, however, the series uses characters and elements from the games to tell a bigger story.
In fact, excitement would be at an all-time high if season 3 of Nocturne were to adapt the 1997 game Symphony of the Night, in which Richter Belmont is controlled by a former loyal servant of Dracula. Seeing him descend into the darkness would most likely be worth the wait.
