Romantic comedy XO, Kitty has been riding the hype train ever since the release of its second season, which dropped on Netflix on January 16, 2025. The show charmed its audience with new episodes following teenager Kitty Song Covey on her journey of self-discovery.
So much so that fans are naturally wondering whether they’ll get to see what’s in store for the heroine in the future.

XO, Kitty climbed to the top of Netflix’s Top 10 list for TV shows, so its chances for a return look promising. Additionally, star Anna Cathcart revealed in an interview that she’s excited to find out what Kitty will be up to next.
“I would love to see Kitty continuing to explore who she is and figure out what that means to her,” Cathcart told Deadline.
Even if her dreams come true, fans of the show will have to wait a while for new episodes to start streaming. Season 1 premiered in 2023 and season 2 arrived in 2025, almost two years later. If the release pattern continues, a potential season 3 would likely hit Netflix in early 2027.

What Will Happen in XO, Kitty Season 3?
XO, Kitty revolves around Kitty Song-Covey, a high school student who relocates from the US to South Korea. She goes there to connect with her long-distance boyfriend and find out more about her mother, who studied at the same school she starts to attend.
However, Kitty’s new journey doesn’t go as smoothly as she expected. Thankfully, she makes friends along the way and gets to know herself better. All the hallmarks of a charming coming-of-age story.
Season 2 ends with Kitty asking to accompany potential love interest Min-ho on his brother’s concert tour for the summer. New episodes might follow their adventures, or catch up with Kitty once she returns to school. Either way, Kitty still has a lot of growing up to do – and fans likely want to see her get a happily-ever-after. We’re keeping our fingers crossed.
Is XO, Kitty Based on a Book Series?
XO, Kitty is a TV spin-off to the To All the Boys movie trilogy, which is based on a series of books penned by Jenny Han. That said, XO Kitty isn’t based on any written novels. Rather, it continues the story of the Kitty character on screen.
For those unfamiliar with the movies, To All the Boys centers on Lara Jean Song-Covey, a teenager with a habit of writing letters to her crushes. When those letters suspiciously make their way to their intended recipients, mayhem ensues. Kitty, meanwhile, is Lara Jean’s younger sister, a supporting character in the films.
During season 2 of XO, Kitty, Noah Centineo reprised his role as Peter from the original series in a cameo that delighted fans. If the show returns for season 3, they might be in for even more surprises.
